Rams Make Change at Kicker, Turn to Harrison Mevis

Before facing the San Francisco 49ers this weekend, the Los Angeles Rams have decided to make a switch at the kicker position. Head coach Sean McVay confirmed that recently signed Harrison Mevis will be promoted from the practice squad to replace Joshua Karty for Sunday’s game.

“There’s a lot of layers to it,” McVay said. “I still have a lot of confidence in Josh Karty. Both players performed very well this week, and I was proud of how Josh carried himself. He has a bright future and has done a lot of good things for us. Ultimately, it comes down to who gives us the best chance for success right now.”

The upcoming game will mark Mevis’s NFL debut. The undrafted rookie, who joined the Rams in 2024, previously played in the UFL, where he made 20 of 21 field goals earlier this season.

“It’s a great experience joining this team,” Mevis said. “I just want to do my job, be my best self, and help however I can by making kicks.”
