The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) of Iraq has announced that thousands of campaign posters displayed across Iraqi streets during the election period will be recycled. The initiative aims to repurpose these materials into items that promote environmental awareness.
“A number of election campaign posters across Baghdad and other provinces will be recycled into new environmental awareness materials that comply with environmental and municipal standards and do not distort the appearance of the city, in accordance with applicable laws,”
The recycling program reflects Iraq’s growing focus on sustainability and municipal order. The IHEC emphasized that the new materials will not only adhere to environmental regulations but will also serve to educate citizens about ecological preservation.
Iraq’s electoral commission is turning campaign waste into environmental education tools, combining ecological responsibility with civic awareness.
