BEST Announces New Bus Routes and Service Updates Effective November 1

The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) Undertaking announced significant updates to its bus network starting from November 1. The initiative introduces new bus routes, restructures existing services, and upgrades several lines to air-conditioned standards to enhance passenger comfort and operational efficiency.

Key Service Upgrades

New routes added to improve connectivity in central and south Mumbai.
Several routes converted to air-conditioned services.
Certain segments and routes cancelled or shortened for better route rationalisation.

New Route Introduction

One of the newly introduced services, route A-101, will link the World Trade Center with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT). The route passes through major areas such as G D Somani Road, President Hotel, Colaba, Hutatma Rajguru Chowk, and Madame Cama Road. It operates six days a week, from Monday to Saturday.

The return route will cover Hutatma Chowk, Veer Nariman Road, and Churchgate, among other important points, offering improved transport links in south Mumbai.

Revised and Shortened Routes

Several existing routes have been reorganised:

Route A-1, earlier carrying passengers between Electric House and Colaba Depot, will now operate only between CSMT and Santacruz Depot.
Route A-6 will serve between Backbay Depot and Tata Power Station with adjusted timings and a revised path.
Other routes, including A-44, A-47, A-48, and A-49, have been modified by shortening their lengths or changing terminals.
