Fog Turns to Snowfall in Calgary

Friday morning in Calgary began foggy but quickly shifted to snowfall. Around 8:30 a.m., snowflakes that originated in the northern parts started falling downtown and moving south.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) had issued a fog advisory warning about poor visibility. They also cautioned about rain or snow, with a chance of freezing rain.

"Precipitation was in the forecast for the morning hours, but our temperature stayed just cool enough to keep most of that mix as snow. Once it’s gone, it’s pretty much gone, and as we enter the 9 o’clock hour, we can expect most of that to fully back away," explained Kevin Stanfield, meteorologist at 660 NewsRadio.

Stanfield added that temperatures are expected to rise to a high of 3°C, causing any accumulated snow to melt. Drivers are urged to be cautious on the roads during this transition.
