In a pulse-pounding 103-102 shootout, Tasmania suffered another defeat at their Launceston "house of horrors," falling to South-East Melbourne on Thursday. Despite a stellar effort from JackJumpers import Bryce Hamilton, Tasmania's struggles at home continued, marking their third consecutive loss at the Silverdome.
The JackJumpers entered the match with a disappointing 2-7 record at home, having also lost 75-69 to Cairns the previous Saturday. Hamilton scored an impressive 36 points on 16-23 shooting but couldn't swing the result in their favor. Tasmania now holds a 5-6 overall record.
In contrast, the South-East Melbourne Phoenix, who began last season 2-6, now boast a 7-2 record, placing them second on the ladder after edging out Tasmania in one of the season’s most thrilling contests.
"Not even 36 points off 16-23 shooting from Hamilton could prevent the JackJumpers falling to 5-6, having dropped previous games at home against the Taipans and Perth."
"Phoenix youngster Malique Lewis (23 points, 9-11 shooting) was outstanding, particularly in the first half with 18 points, hitting his first five shots."
