Hilary Duff opened up about her experience on the iconic Disney Channel show Lizzie McGuire and revealed details about the characters' lives after the series during an appearance on the Therapuss podcast.
Duff, 38, appeared on the podcast hosted by Jake Shane on November 5 to promote her new song “Mature.” While discussing music, the conversation naturally revisited her early career.
“I loved it,” Duff said about starring on the show from 2001 to 2004. “I had the best time.” She also highlighted the show's success:
“Lizzie McGuire broke all of their records on Disney Channel, which led to a different formula for the series that came after.”
Duff explained how Disney Channel followed a strict production formula at the time, which shaped the series' structure and episode count.
“They just ordered a certain amount of episodes, and that was what they did for their shows. They spent this amount of money, they had this amount of order, and they stuck to that formula for all of those shows,”she said.
She added, “I think one year we shot 30 episodes, and maybe the next one was 35 episodes in one year.”
On the fate of Lizzie and Gordo's relationship, Duff shared her thoughts:
“I think they had maybe an almost thing post-show. In my mind, I like to think she had a thing with Ethan Craft [Clayton Snyder], finally.”
She also noted Gordo’s ongoing presence in Lizzie’s life:
“Gordo is always there to pick up her pieces still.”
Hilary Duff revisited her childhood hit, revealing Disney Channel’s episode formula and imagining Lizzie’s personal growth beyond the show’s ending.
