The FIFA U-17 World Cup 2025 is currently underway in Qatar, attracting world and football industry leaders to the Aspire Zone for one of the sport’s top youth tournaments.
Among the attendees is Annalena Baerbock, President of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly, who is visiting Qatar for the Second World Summit for Social Development held from November 4 to 6.
During her visit, Baerbock spoke with the tournament’s Local Organising Committee and emphasized the unifying role of sports worldwide. She stated:
“The global community has convened in Qatar to highlight the importance of social justice in building stronger societies. The same applies to sports – you only win when you play as one team.”
Baerbock previously served as Germany’s Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs from December 2021 until May 2025.
Baerbock’s presence at the tournament aligns with the broader goals of the World Summit, aiming to connect sports with social progress.
