Mother feared among 12 dead in UPS plane crash after going to dump metal alone

Mother Feared Dead in UPS Plane Crash

Angela Anderson, 45, is missing following the crash of UPS Flight 2976 on Tuesday evening. The plane exploded into a giant fireball shortly after takeoff from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, killing 12 people.

Incident Details

Anderson was at a salvage yard dumping metal at the time of the crash, which occurred near her location. The fire from the crash spread to nearby businesses, including the scrap yard she had chosen to visit.

Eyewitness Account

Her boyfriend, Donald Henderson, 55, said he was supposed to accompany her but was too exhausted after a long workday.

“We’ve been meaning to do it, but [I’ve] been working every day,” Henderson told WDRB. “I told her I’d take her and it was 4:30[pm]. I was like: ‘It’s too late by the time we get over there.’”

He added that Anderson said she would “take care of it” on her own and has not been heard from since.

Crash Investigation

Todd Inman, from the National Transportation Safety Board, stated the plane developed a large fire in the left wing after being cleared for takeoff. The aircraft managed to gain enough altitude to clear the fence at the runway’s end before crashing just outside the airport.

Current Status

Rescuers are losing hope of finding survivors in the inferno that consumed the massive aircraft and nearby areas.

“The plane gained enough altitude to clear the fence at the end of the runway before crashing just outside,” Todd Inman said.

Summary: Angela Anderson is feared dead after the UPS plane crash near a salvage yard she visited; rescuers continue efforts amid grim prospects.
