Prop 50 prevails: California redistricting plan sails to victory

California Redistricting Plan Wins

Proposition 50, the Congressional redistricting plan supported by Gov. Newsom, has been passed.

The Associated Press called the election shortly after polls closed at 8 p.m., with voters approving Prop 50.

Californians had sent “a powerful message” to “the most historically unpopular president in modern history.”

The yes vote on Prop 50 was part of a Democratic sweep, with Democrats winning governor seats in Virginia and New Jersey, and Zohran Mamdani elected mayor of New York City.

Gov. Newsom described the Democratic Party as “a party that is in its ascendency.”
