'A dream come true': Ace Bailey makes most of first start with Jazz

A Dream Come True: Ace Bailey's First Start with the Jazz

Anthony Edwards made sure Ace Bailey understood the impact of his highlight play. In Minnesota’s 120-113 victory over the Jazz on Monday, Bailey drove baseline, soared around Edwards, and finished with an impressive reverse dunk.

"He asked if I dunked on him," Bailey recalled with a smile. "I said, 'Was that you?' I didn't know. I just went up."

This moment capped a significant night for the 19-year-old wing, who made his first start for Utah.

Coach's Praise and Bailey's Preparation

Jazz coach Will Hardy was pleased with Bailey’s performance. “I thought Ace did great,” Hardy said. “For the most part, he played within the system offensively, and his burst and athleticism are very evident, not just off the dribble, but cutting, crashing the glass. He gives us a really good lift.”

Bailey learned about his promotion to the starting lineup during Sunday’s practice, after which he eagerly sought guidance.

Bailey clearly embraced the challenge of starting and contributed energy and focus for the Jazz.
