At the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai, Alfa Laval, a Swedish engineering and service firm, emphasized its strong commitment to China, describing it as the company’s most critical market.
CEO Tom Erixon and CFO Fredrik Ekstrom spoke in an interview with China Central Television (CCTV), underlining China’s significance for the company’s growth and its role in the global energy transition.
“Sometimes it’s important that we, as a team, experience the same thing. It’s very much a learning experience from what is for us the most important market in the world, China,” said Erixon.
Ekstrom added that the expo is a valuable opportunity to engage with government officials, customers, and partners, broadening their understanding of the Chinese market.
“I think it’s a mix of meeting government officials, it’s meeting our customers, and of course, it’s expanding our view of what’s happening in China at the same time because when you look around, you really get a true sense of how important China is as a market for the rest of the world and why it’s important for us to be here as well. In fact, it’s 20 percent of our turnover. But more importantly, we look at it as a future market because China leads the global energy transition right now,” Ekstrom explained.
Erixon also noted the role of China’s Five-Year Plans in shaping Alfa Laval’s long-term business planning, calling these plans “very predictive of what’s actually going to happen.”
Alfa Laval regards China as a vital market both currently and for future growth, leveraging strong local ties and strategic insights to support global energy transformation.
