Reghan Grimes, a senior at Tennessee Tech, achieved a milestone by surpassing 1,000 career points early this season. Instead of just five points, she scored 24 in total, leading all scorers in the Golden Eagles' 92-67 victory against the University of the Cumberlands at the Eblen Center.
The Golden Eagles shot nearly 50% overall, making 30 of 61 attempts from the field and 10 of 22 from three-point range. At the free-throw line, they converted 22 of 33 attempts.
Despite strong shooting, fouls presented challenges, as Tennessee Tech was called for 33 fouls, putting seven players close to fouling out. This allowed the Cumberlands Patriots 50 free-throw attempts, where they made 32 (64%).
Joy Kendrick led the Patriots with 21 points, shooting 12-for-15 from the free-throw line but only 4-for-15 from the field.
