Ivana Perkovic, a Dutch content creator from Amsterdam now living in Mumbai, shared her perspective on the recent surge of 'anti-India' sentiment online. She believes that many who claim to dislike India are actually afraid of embracing its rich culture and lifestyle.
"Personally, I lost my heart to India about 10 years ago. Seeing the hate India gets, I do often wonder if it's really hate or maybe? It's a secret obsession with a world that's so different than your own."
Perkovic suggests that those who pretend to hate India fear how their worldview might change if they truly experienced its culture:
"Maybe the people who pretend to hate India, deep down inside, fear how their world would change once they taste Indian food, experience Indian hospitality and actually enjoy the presence of cows in the road because honestly, if they truly weren't impressed, why are they talking about India all the time."
She emphasized India's diversity and vibrance as reasons both for admiration and confusion among outsiders. According to Perkovic:
"It has one of the most unique cuisines in the world. Landscape-wise, it's home to the Himalayas, white pristine beaches, deserts and jungles. It's also one of the most colourful nations in the world."
Author's summary: Ivana Perkovic believes that apparent anti-India views mask a deep fascination and fear of embracing the country's rich culture, diverse landscapes, and vibrant lifestyle.
