Dozens of children have been hospitalized in Budapest on suspicion of mass food poisoning. Most affected are children from nurseries and schools in the 13th district.
The Heim Pál National Paediatric Institute confirmed that the children were admitted with symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, and dehydration. Several required intravenous treatment.
The hospital reported that all affected children remain in stable condition, and care continues without interruption.
By Thursday afternoon and evening, multiple parents reported their children falling ill after eating nursery or school lunches. One institution possibly involved is the Futár Street nursery in Budapest’s 13th district, though children from other districts have also exhibited similar symptoms.
Judit, a parent, shared that her son began vomiting overnight. Since they rehydrated him at home, he did not need hospital treatment. However, several classmates were taken to Heim Pál hospital.
The hospital assured that the situation is under control, with staff working to ensure children recover quickly.
Health experts emphasize that dehydration can be especially dangerous in young children, highlighting the severity of the situation.
Summary: Over 50 children in Budapest have been hospitalized due to suspected food poisoning, with authorities working to manage the outbreak and ensure children’s recovery.
