On 3 November 2025, amid worsening global challenges, governments, civil society, and international partners gathered in Doha to focus on practical solutions to promote social development and tackle urgent crises. These include growing hunger, rising poverty, deepening inequality, and climate-related instability.
The discussions occurred at the Doha Solutions Forum for Social Development and the inaugural leaders’ meeting of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, held alongside the Second World Summit for Social Development.
“Too often we face situations where we have no clear solution, no answer to the suffering we see, and it is heartbreaking,” said Annalena Baerbock, President of the UN General Assembly. “Or we have the solution [but] we are either unable or unwilling to do what needs to be done, which is frustrating.”
“Today is different: we are here to avoid falling into those traps, to learn from each other; to benefit from good ideas; to join forces; and to live up to our common principles,” she added.
The forum emphasized moving beyond merely acknowledging problems to implementing proven approaches. The aim is to foster collaboration and share effective strategies to address social challenges globally.
The Doha gathering highlighted a decisive move toward collective action and practical solutions to counter the escalating social and environmental crises confronting humanity.
