The San Jose Sharks secured a commanding 6-1 victory over the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena on Wednesday. Macklin Celebrini led the charge with a goal and two assists, contributing significantly to the Sharks' success.
"Our penalty kill was really good tonight. So that helps," said Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky. "I thought our game got better as the game went on."
The Kraken, finishing a five-game homestand with a 2-1-2 record, were unable to match the Sharks' pace. Ryan Winterton scored his first NHL goal to tie the game 1-1 late in the first period. Goaltender Joey Daccord made 15 saves before being replaced by Matt Murray in the third period, who stopped all three shots faced.
"Disconnected in a bunch of different areas. Our structure wasn't good enough tonight," stated Kraken coach Lane Lambert.
Celebrini's opening goal came just 1:08 into the game, when he received a pass from Toffoli and wristed the puck past Daccord.
"I was just in the slot and just there to put it in," Celebrini said. "[Smith and Toffoli], they did a great job, getting on their D and forcing a turnover."
The Sharks have now won 4 of their last 6 games, bringing their season record to 5-6-3. The Kraken's record stands at 6-3-4.
