To honor Remembrance Day and recognize the sacrifices of those who served, various ceremonies are scheduled in Hamilton, Burlington, and Brantford. On November 11, most federal services and federally regulated businesses, including banks and postal services, will be closed.
An event marking Indigenous Veteran’s Day will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 7, at Battlefield House Museum and Park, 77 King Street. The City of Hamilton stated,
“This service acknowledges and commemorates the contributions made by Indigenous veterans in service to Turtle Island.”
The ceremony at the Eagles Among Us Indigenous Monument will be followed by refreshments featuring Indigenous flavors. Attendees are asked to bring their own chairs due to limited seating.
The city’s garrison parade will begin at 10:15 a.m. on November 9, with the commemorative service at 10:45 a.m. The parade featuring Hamilton veterans, garrison units, and cadet corps will start at the John Foote V.C. building and proceed south to Gore Park on King Street East, where the service will be held at Veteran’s Place.
