Edinburgh Trams to commemorate Remembrance Day

Edinburgh Trams to Commemorate Remembrance Day

Edinburgh Trams will honor Remembrance Sunday (9 November) and Armistice Day (11 November) to pay tribute to those who sacrificed their lives in World War I, World War II, and recent conflicts.

Free Travel for Veterans and Service Members

To recognize these sacrifices, Edinburgh Trams will provide free travel for veterans and active members of the Army, Navy, and Air Force on both days. Eligible passengers can access this by showing military ID or wearing their uniform.

Poppy Scotland and Tribute Displays

In the lead-up to the commemorations, Poppy Scotland representatives will be at the Haymarket tram stop selling poppies. Additionally, poppy displays will be featured in tram windows as a mark of respect.

Two-Minute Silence Observance

Where it is safe, tram services will pause at 11 a.m. on both days to observe a two-minute silence in remembrance.

Lea Harrison, Managing Director of Edinburgh Trams, stated: “Each year I am proud to show our support at Edinburgh Trams on both Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day. As a former veteran myself, and a number of our colleagues being former service men and women, we are passionate about paying tribute to all of those who have paid the ultimate price throughout the years while serving our country.”

Author’s summary: Edinburgh Trams honors Remembrance Day with free veteran travel, poppy sales, silent tribute stops, and heartfelt support from its staff.
