The Toronto Blue Jays have extended a one-year qualifying offer to shortstop Bo Bichette, ensuring the team will receive a compensatory draft pick if he signs elsewhere in free agency. The offer for the 2026 season is valued at $22.05 million.
Bichette has until November 18 to either accept the deal or enter unrestricted free agency for the first time in his career. The 27-year-old remains one of the most consistent hitters in baseball.
Alongside the Bichette announcement, Toronto made additional roster moves in preparation for the offseason:
Bichette delivered an outstanding 2025 campaign, posting a .311 batting average with 18 home runs, 94 RBIs, and a .357 on-base percentage before suffering a left knee sprain on September 6 during a game against the New York Yankees.
“He returned in time for the World Series, hitting .348 and launching a three-run home run early in Game 7 that for a while seemed destined for franchise lore.”
Bichette’s strong season left the Blue Jays hoping he accepts their qualifying offer, as they balance roster moves to strengthen the team for 2026.
