The mother of Robert Fisher, a young father murdered by violent offender Cameron Woods, has spoken out after learning that Woods had been on bail at the time of the killing.
Serial criminal Cameron Woods fatally stabbed 26-year-old Robert Fisher in July 2023. Later, at Paisley Sheriff Court, Woods was convicted of raping a young woman at knifepoint, a crime he committed in April 2023 — just days before being released on bail.
During the latest trial, it was revealed that Woods carried out the fatal attack while he should have been in custody. Robert’s mother, Pamela Peacock, 52, expressed fury and grief at the justice system’s failure to prevent her son’s death.
“This is something that should never have happened. If it had been dealt with properly and if Woods had been remanded I believe Robert would still be here today,” said Mrs Peacock.
“Cameron Woods is a murderer and a rapist. He’s just evil.”
Woods raped his victim in the early hours of April 16, 2023, but was released on bail nine days later. On July 23, he murdered Robert Fisher in what prosecutors described as a frenzied knife attack. Robert died in hospital several days after the assault.
Robert Fisher’s mother says her son’s death was preventable, blaming a justice system that freed his violent killer weeks before the tragedy.
