Cambrian College Introduces Dental Assisting Program
Cambrian College is launching a Dental Assisting program in response to the need for qualified staff in Northern Ontario dental practices.
The 10-month program, starting this January, will offer a combination of online courses and weekend sessions on campus, allowing students to balance their studies with work commitments. A seven-week placement in a dental practice will provide hands-on experience.
Dental assistants play a vital role in supporting dentists and dental hygienists, and enhancing patient care.
According to Rachel Steels, dean of Cambrian's School of Health Sciences, dental assistants perform various clinical and administrative duties, including infection control, x-rays, and patient education.
The program was introduced due to strong community and industry demand.
