Mayor Jae'ques Brown and the new city council of Greenville were sworn in for the 2025-2029 term, marking the beginning of a new administration.
The ceremony, led by Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Will Sellers, was followed by the first regular city council session. During the meeting, the council approved several resolutions, including changes to City Hall hours, which will now operate on a Monday-Thursday schedule with Friday closures.
A new administrative coordinator position was also established, with Mayor Brown explaining:
This is an executive assistant position to the mayor that we're making a recommendation for.
Each council member received a resolution outlining the recommended salary range for the position, as determined by the HR department and city clerk.
