Blue Vannin Jazz Ensemble Sets Out on First UK Tour

The Blue Vannin Jazz ensemble, which averages an age of around 100, is preparing to take their sound across the Irish Sea.

Formed in 2017 to mark 50 years since the passing of jazz legend John Coltrane, the band was never meant to last beyond a single performance.

According to band member Jerry Carter,

Blue Vannin were supposed to be a one-off cameo
, but after their initial gig, they were invited to play at a blues festival and later secured a monthly residency at the Queen’s Hotel.

Their reputation spread, and they were approached by other venues, including the Erin Arts Centre, the Laxey Working Men’s Institute, and the sailing club, becoming a regular band.
