Deepfakes: A Growing Concern
When hearing the term "deepfake", one might think of comically edited videos or poorly generated images. However, deepfakes can also be used to create explicit content. In simple terms, deepfakes are images and videos edited or generated using artificial intelligence.
The quality of deepfakes has improved significantly over time. For instance, a 2023 example of prompting Will Smith to eat a meatball resulted in a poorly made video, but now such videos can be made with ease and accuracy.
These videos are getting freakishly accurate, making it harder for audiences to tell what’s real and what’s not.
