The Woodland Trust has warned of plans to fell trees at Sanquhar woods due to the risk they pose.
A contractor for Forres Community Woodlands Trust has been granted permission to fell timber in two areas of the woods.
According to Gisela Macfarquhar, secretary of Forres Community Woodlands Trust, the work aims to maintain a clear border between the forest and neighboring homes.
Western Hemlock and Douglas Fir trees planted by the previous woodland owner for commercial reasons before Sanquhar estate was built are increasingly posing a risk to the properties. Storms uproot or damage trees, and the risk of wildfires is becoming an issue too.
