Midshipman Second Class Kyle Philbert James Found Dead
The U.S. Naval Academy confirmed the death of Midshipman Second Class Kyle Philbert James on Sunday afternoon.
James, a 20-year-old New Jersey native, was a junior at the academy, majoring in history and participating in the gospel choir. He was a member of the 36th Company.
The circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation.
The Naval Academy did not confirm earlier reports that James had gone missing on Thursday, nor did they disclose when or where his body was found.
The academy has made counseling and support services available to midshipmen, faculty, and staff through the Midshipman Development Center, Chaplain’s Center, and Chain of Command.
