Lawyers of Vicken Euljekjian, a 46-year-old Armenian tour guide, have petitioned the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (UNWGAD) to order his immediate release.
Euljekjian was arrested on November 10, 2020, in Shushi (Nagorno-Karabakh), and sentenced to 20 years in prison on charges of “mercenary activity” and “terrorism” by the Baku Military Court on June 14, 2021.
His detention and conviction are arbitrary! and violate fundamental human rights protections.
His lawyers argue that his detention conditions are severe and endanger his life, citing grave violations of international law.
