Nigel Farage Heckled in Commons

Nigel Farage suffered a defeat in the House of Commons as MPs voted down his proposal to leave the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR).

Farage, the Reform UK leader, proposed a 10-minute rule bill to withdraw from the ECHR. Despite the Labour and Tory benches being largely empty, dozens of Lib Dem MPs and opposition MPs from smaller parties attended and heckled Farage as he delivered his proposal.

MP: "Putin's pet!"

Farage responded to the heckling, saying:

"It's marvellous to see the intellectual levels of debate in this place, it really is"

Author's summary: Farage's ECHR withdrawal proposal defeated.
