Brian and Kimberly Johnson's house fire has sparked an outpouring of assistance from neighbors, firefighters, and strangers across the Okaloosa County area.
On the evening of September 25, Battalion Fire Chief Brian Johnson's home was struck by lightning, starting a fire around 6:30 p.m. during an evening thunderstorm.
"I heard the breaker trip in the laundry room, so I went and checked on it, and then I started walking around the house to see if I noticed the power being out or if anything was scorched or damaged,"
Brian said. He immediately called 911 after discovering smoke pouring from the breaker box.
The community has rallied in support of the Johnsons, with an outpouring of assistance from neighbors, firefighters, and strangers.
