The Chair of Women for Election has welcomed the news of Catherine Connolly's election as President Elect.
Catherine Connolly will become the third woman to be elected President, having received the highest number and percentage of votes for the winning candidate in a Presidential election.
It was an inspiring moment as Ireland elects its third woman President.
Women for Election Chairperson, Cllr McDonagh, expressed delight at welcoming Catherine Connolly as Ireland's next president, following in the footsteps of Mary Robinson and Mary McAleese.
