A schoolgirl, Caitlin Steppenbeck, has taken her first step towards a career in motorsport after an impressive test day with the UK's pioneering all-female kart team, AJ Racing.
Caitlin, a GCSE student at Guiseley School, joined AJ Racing for a series of on-track sessions at PF International, one of Britain's most demanding kart circuits.
It was Caitlin's first time behind the wheel of a full race-spec kart on an outdoor track, having previously driven rental karts at Whilton Mill and Rowrah.
Supported by team owner Ami Jerger and mechanic Jess, Caitlin quickly adapted to the faster, grippier Junior Rotax machine, steadily improving her lap times and reaching speeds of up to 70mph.
Caitlin shared the circuit with nearly 30 other young drivers, including the newly crowned UK Kart Champion.
