Cherry Creek Cheese Shop Seized by State

A Cherry Creek cheese shop, Truffle Cheese Shop, has had its assets seized by the Colorado Department of Revenue due to unpaid taxes.

The shop, which opened in 2001, owed $21,471 in back taxes, according to a sign posted on its window at 2906 E.

The store's furniture, equipment, and other items are being auctioned off by Dickensheet & Associates, with the auction ending on Tuesday and items to be removed by Wednesday.

"The taxes were (being) filed incorrectly and when it was discovered it snowballed into a bigger issue and debt that was not able to be paid,"

said store owner Lisa Morris in an email. The business had shifted sales of its charcuterie and cheese boards to its website as of mid-September.

The space is being marketed for lease by Howard-Dobbs Real Estate Group.
