Bandi Chhor Divas: Giani Raghbir Singh Urges Govt to Release Bandi Singhs
On the occasion of Bandi Chhor Divas, Giani Raghbir Singh, Head Granthi of Sri Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar, extended greetings to the Sikh community and appealed to the government to release Sikh prisoners who have completed their sentences.
Giani Raghbir Singh emphasized that governments should follow the path shown by Gurus and grant freedom to Bandi Singhs. He highlighted that Bandi Chhor Divas commemorates the day when Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji secured the release of 52 imprisoned kings from the Gwalior Fort.
“Keeping that spirit alive, the Sikh community celebrates this sacred day as Bandi Chhor Divas,”
he said, as devotees light lamps of pure ghee, and the city of Amritsar glows with devotion and joy.
