Power Restored in Cobleskill After Transformer Fire
Nearly 2,000 customers were without power on a cold Friday night in Cobleskill, New York.
A transformer fire at the National Grid substation on South Grand Street caused the outage, with
a "large popping noise" coming from the substationbefore the main transformer caught fire.
- Nearly 1,500 customers were without power in Schoharie County.
- Most traffic lights in the town were without power for much of the afternoon and evening.
The Cobleskill Fire Department responded to the incident, and National Grid has since restored power to all affected communities.
The cause of the transformer fire remains under investigation.
