An Indianapolis man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for seriously injuring his 6-year-old son.
The man, Jeffrey Redd, was found guilty of two counts of battery resulting in serious bodily injury to a person less than 14 years old and domestic battery resulting in bodily injury to a person less than 14 years old.
Redd's sentence includes 8 years in prison and 4 years suspended. The conviction came after a two-day jury trial.
"This sentence is a reflection of our commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of our children,"
said Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears. The case involved Redd punching his son in the face and stomping on him, resulting in serious injuries.
