High schools across the Commonwealth officially switch from the ACT to the SAT

Shift from ACT to SAT in Kentucky High Schools

The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) has announced that it will be transitioning from the ACT to the SAT as the state-funded college admissions exam, starting in spring 2026.

According to Robbie Fletcher, Commissioner of Education at the KDE, this change is beneficial for all.

The SAT is also an adaptive test. In other words, it is a multi-stage adaptive test in that students will take a packet of questions and depending on how they do, the next packet will be based on how well they did on the first packet.

The KDE will ensure that parents and students are informed about this decision. Author's summary: Kentucky switches to SAT exam.
