Pilots tip their wings to Tamworth in rare fly over of 'red' planes

Pilots to Perform Rare Flyover of Tamworth

A rare sight is expected in the skies above Tamworth as four vintage aircraft from Russia and China will fly over the city at 1000ft on Friday, October 17.

The pilots, coming from as far as Bundaberg in Queensland and the Central Coast in NSW, will perform the flyover as a gesture of appreciation to Tamworth for hosting their air crew reunion.

"We want to say 'thank you' to Tamworth for hosting our air crew reunion,"

said pilot Richard Woodward. The annual North and North West Air Crew reunion, which began in 1951, brings together members for a weekend of celebration and reflection.

This event is a unique opportunity to witness a rare flyover of "red" planes, making it a special occasion for the city.
