Aryna Sabalenka secured the year-end No 1 spot in the WTA Rankings despite missing out on a four-peat at the Wuhan Open.
Sabalenka was defeated by Jessica Pegula in the semi-final, ending her streak of winning the tournament in 2018, 2019, and 2024. However, her position at the top of the rankings remained unchanged.
