The family of Sonya Massey is preparing for the upcoming trial of Sean Grayson, a former Sangamon County sheriff's deputy accused of murder.
Grayson is set to stand trial in Peoria, beginning this Monday, for shooting Sonya Massey in her home in July 2024, after she called to report a prowler.
“I think there will probably be a certain amount of surprises,”
said Sontae Massey, Sonya's cousin. The case has garnered national attention and was moved to Peoria County due to its impact on the Springfield community.
The Massey family expects relatives to fly in from out of town for the trial, but the exact number is uncertain.
