Bahamas Getting the US Ambassador it Needs
Last Tuesday, the US Senate confirmed the appointment of Hershel Walker as the next American ambassador to The Bahamas.
A prominent Bahamian with close ties to business and politics in the US expressed relief, stating:
“Well, that was a relief,” ... “An awful lot of people took as an insult the fact that there has been no American ambassador in residence here for over 14 years!
They acknowledged that special circumstances led to the delay, but welcomed the news of Walker's appointment, saying
“It’s way past time.”
A writer to the newspaper previously noted that
“this nomination bodes well for our wonderful nation”when US President Donald Trump announced Walker's nomination.
