Woman Accused of Abandoning Baby Doesn't Testify
Persia Nelson, a Schenectady woman, is charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter, and endangering the welfare of a child in connection with the death of her 11-month-old daughter, Halo Branton, in March 2024.
Nelson did not take the stand in her own defense. The defense rested its case on Tuesday morning, presenting witnesses including a meteorologist to analyze weather conditions and a retired pharmacology professor to discuss Nelson's intoxication on the night of March 10, 2024.
