The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has reported a 50% increase in major cyberattacks in the UK over the past year.
Despite a minimal change in the overall volume of cases handled, the number of high-severity incidents has continued to climb. The NCSC's incident management team handled 429 cyberattacks on organizations in the past 12 months, with 204 being nationally significant and 18 highly significant.
Cybersecurity is now a matter of business survival and national resilience.
The NCSC has six categories of attacks, ranked in a DEFCON-style system. The increase in cyberattacks has prompted the NCSC to warn businesses to take action to protect themselves.
