Storybook Farm looks to rezone land to build 100 townhomes

Storybook Farm Seeks Rezoning for Townhome Development

A family-owned horse farm on Johns Island, known as Storybook Farm, is in the process of being rezoned to build 100 new townhomes.

The Charleston County Planning Commission has narrowly approved a new application for rezoning, following an initial rejection in April 2025 due to density and affordability concerns.

"This came before you this year, and it was denied because it was too dense, too tall, not enough affordable housing," said Joseph Tecklenburg. "We feel this plan addresses those issues."

The 10.86-acre farm is currently zoned as Low-Density Residential.
