The first live fire of a ground-launched AGM-179 Joint Air-to-Ground Missile (JAGM) took place at Yuma Proving Ground with a US Army-provided munition, according to Lockheed Martin executives.
Lockheed Martin's internal investment funding was used to fire the JAGM Quad Launcher (JQL) on 28 August, marking a “successful” milestone in preparing the technology for a future vertical launch configuration.
Casey Walsh, multidomain missile systems director at Lockheed Martin, announced the successful test, which was witnessed by US Army officials, despite no existing requirement for the vertical launcher.
