The Philadelphia Medical Examiner's Office has issued a report reaffirming its ruling that the 2011 stabbing death of Ellen Greenberg, a 27-year-old Manayunk teacher, was a suicide.
Greenberg was found with 20 stab wounds in her apartment on January 26, 2011. The Chief Medical Examiner, Dr. Lindsay Simon, stated that Greenberg would have been capable of inflicting the injuries on herself, citing a lack of signs of struggle or an intruder at the scene.
The report also corroborates the alibi of Greenberg's fiancé, who claimed to be at the gym at the time of her death, through surveillance video, keycard swipes, and other evidence.
The family's attorney called the report "an embarrassment."
