Peoria Heights' leader of almost 3 decades has died
Former Peoria Heights Mayor Ray Picl has died. He served as mayor for 28 years, holding the record as the longest serving Peoria Heights mayor.
Ray certainly left his mark on our community
said incumbent Mayor Matt Wigginton. Village Trustee Brandon Wisenberg also paid tribute to Picl, saying:
Mayor Picl was the steady hand that guided our village for so many years. His vision and commitment have shaped the community we love today
Picl was Peoria Heights mayor from 1969 to 1997. The village issued a proclamation honoring him for his 95th birthday just last year.
