Longtime Peoria Broadcaster Chuck Collins Prepares to Retire
Chuck Collins, chief meteorologist at WEEK-TV, is retiring on October 15 after 50 years on-air, serving the Peoria and Bloomington-Normal TV market.
After two generations of forecasting weather, Collins notes that connecting with the community is what he will miss most.
“The biggest thing I’m going to miss is talking to kids about weather. During the school year I would go to two or three schools a week talking to kids, especially grade school kids,”
Collins also speaks to churches and other community gatherings about weather, often in casual settings such as trips to the mall or dinner with his family.
