All-New Toyota Hilux Debuts Globally with Electric Powertrain

Toyota has unveiled the ninth-generation Hilux, now featuring an all-electric powertrain for the first time. The brand also confirmed a hydrogen fuel-cell electric version scheduled for release in 2028. Alongside the electric option, the Hilux will continue to offer the reliable 2.8-litre diesel engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system.

Design Overhaul and Exterior Features

The new Hilux showcases a comprehensive redesign that aligns its styling with the latest Toyota Land Cruiser SUV. At the front, it features sleek LED headlights with integrated daytime running lights and a bold, closed grille prominently displaying the "TOYOTA" name.

The bumper emphasizes a rugged stance with a muscular, protruding shape, silver accents on the lower section, and neatly fitted LED fog lamps on both sides.

Side Profile and Rear Details

The truck retains the classic Hilux shape with a dual-cab body style and flatbed, complemented by aerodynamic alloy wheels. The all-electric version includes a charging flap positioned on the front fender.

At the rear, vertical C-shaped LED taillights complement an all-black bumper. Notable details include “TOYOTA” badging on the flatbed gate and a high-mounted brake light above the flatbed handle.

Toyota confirmed a hydrogen fuel-cell electric version of the Hilux, which is scheduled to arrive in 2028.

The interior and technology features have also been upgraded, providing more advanced tech amenities than previous models.

Summary: The ninth-generation Toyota Hilux introduces an electric powertrain and a modern design update, combining rugged utility with advanced technology for a versatile pickup.
