The ninth generation of Toyota’s renowned pickup truck arrives fully redesigned, inside and out. For the first time, the Hilux lineup includes a battery electric version alongside the familiar diesel and gasoline engines.
Unlike cars and SUVs that follow a 6–7-year life cycle, pickup trucks typically stay in production much longer. Still, the outgoing Hilux has stretched its lifespan, surviving a decade with only minor facelifts. The 2026 redesign marks a major shift toward modernization, while keeping the model’s durable reputation intact.
Toyota has developed a fully electric Hilux, leading the new generation’s debut. The BEV model takes the spotlight in media previews ahead of its market introduction next month.
“These official images all show the double-cab Hilux, as this configuration remains by far the most popular choice among customers.”
According to Toyota Europe, all other body styles are being discontinued in that region due to customer preferences. However, the company confirmed that other markets will retain certain variants.
The 2026 Toyota Hilux introduces an electric version alongside traditional engines, featuring a complete redesign focused on efficiency and modern appeal while maintaining its toughness.
