The West Coast Eagles' 2025 AFLW season concluded after their maiden finals appearance, with a 41-point loss to Carlton at IKON Park on Saturday. In challenging wet and wild Melbourne conditions, Carlton maintained control on their home ground, defeating the Eagles 9.6 (60) to 2.7 (19).
Despite the loss, the Eagles’ young players shone in the club’s biggest match so far. Ella Roberts battled throughout the game, finishing with a team-best 30 touches and 12 tackles, and kicked West Coast’s first finals goal. First-year players Charlotte Riggs and Kayla Dalgleish contributed effectively under tough weather conditions, while defenders Charlie Thomas and Jess Rentsch provided crucial support in defense.
The match marked the final AFLW game for inaugural player Dana Hooker, who announced her retirement in round 12, ending a remarkable 10-year career.
